About Youth Against Hunger

Youth Against Hunger Initiative (YAHI) is a global network of young people dedicated to eradicating hunger and achieving food security for all. Founded in 2022, YAHI seeks to empower young people to take action toward a more equitable and sustainable food system. By mobilizing youth-led initiatives and advocating for policy change, YAHI aims to make a tangible impact on food security and hunger-reduction.

Through its various programs and initiatives, YAHI works towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. These include the Zero Hunger Fridays campaign, the Food Waste Challenge, and the Youth Food Security Symposium. YAHI also maintains a WhatsApp community, which serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, resources, and experiences related to food security and the Sustainable Development Goals. By bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds and geographies, YAHI aims to create a global movement for food justice and sustainability and to empower the next generation of leaders in this critical area.

In addition to working towards achieving the UN's SDG 2: Zero Hunger, YAHI also focuses on achieving other related Sustainable Development Goals. These include SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 15: Life on Land.

YAHI recognizes the interconnectedness of these goals and the critical role they play in achieving food security and sustainable agriculture. Through its Food Waste Challenge and other initiatives, YAHI aims to promote responsible consumption and production patterns, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and preserve biodiversity and ecosystem services. By addressing these interconnected challenges, YAHI hopes to contribute to a more sustainable and resilient food system that can provide nutritious and affordable food for all, while also protecting the planet and its natural resources.

Vision:

YAHI envisions a world where every person has access to safe and nutritious food, and where food systems are equitable, sustainable, and resilient. We aim to empower young people to take leadership roles in shaping the food system and promote intergenerational equity, social justice, and environmental stewardship. We believe that by working together across sectors and geographies, we can create a world where hunger and malnutrition are eradicated, and all people can thrive and reach their full potential.

Mission:

"Empowering Young People for Zero Hunger and Climate Action!"

Through education, collaboration, and innovative programming, we work to raise awareness of food insecurity and hunger, reduce food waste, and promote access to healthy and nutritious food for all.

Our ultimate goal is to create a world where food systems are equitable, sustainable, and resilient, and where every person has access to safe, culturally appropriate, and nutritious food.
